I'm all settled into my new home, so everything should be back on schedule! https://trialsofascension.com/news/article/dev-blog-31
Lee first and goodie updates Fourm link ant working btw lol xD but i get it why the spiders cant swim well what stops them from making a body bridge like ants?
Interesting concept Bazrake! If Raknar could coordinate in such ways it would make them all the more deadly when they work together, and it would help explain why they wiped out most of the human population on the mainland. The thought of Raknar coordinating in such ways really scares me. If they could form structures with their bodies, nothing would be safe from them. Well, I suppose they wouldn't be able to scale to the peaks of mountains but still...
Great blog If one is dumb enough to lock itself into a position then the one behind it will be likely to eat it
I might not care to play a Raknar, but I have respect for them as far as Lore goes. They are incredibly smart and cunning, perhaps even semi-sentient. They can form massive hives and coordinate attacks with deadly precision. They are killing machines bent on conquering the world above. They are spawn of the underworld, and they live up to that. I wouldn't be surprised if at a later time as a perk for forming a hive they could perform actions like what Bazrake thought of.
I was wondering why it wasn't up this Sunday. I'm glad you got everything sorted out, and great work guys I am loving the game. I like the idea of having to clear the stumps and bushes first. In my opinion, That makes the game feel more alive.
What happens to the tree stump that you have to clear? Would we be able to make a coffee table out of it?
Yeah, it would be nice if you could get extra wood from it, or some kind of scraps that could be used for making fires.
Hope I find a smallish island on the island surrounded by deep water. Raknar proof. Or stay near waters edge early game. Also in the pre-alpha you think an i5 / 970 would be sufficient to play without lag? If you have that information
I am sure you will find an island without Raknar, probably more than one. As far as lag, I'd say it would have more to do with your internet connection and the server than the client at this early stage.
Regardless of if my Empire succeeds, I would want the largest Island possible, with the most diversity in landscape. I personally love mountains, so wherever the mountains are is likely where you will find me. Human or Dragon.
Fishing will hopefully be a thing one day. And farming too. Its snow for me. With their rent a server thing I plan to make a small island with 2x spawns and difficulty for training purposes. Settlement admission requires killing an emu with your fists! Got good in ARK by living in the swamp and freaking titanboas everywhere with no sound...
Skyrim was boring and once you maxed I believe sneaking it was beyond easy. Archery was hilarious though with the random chance to make someone fall over. But my snowy addiction starts from Minecraft when my group controlled all snow regions on the map. From there its been a strange calling and I love how the snow regions in TerVarus will be challenging. Hopefully harder than ARKs snow which is easy once established.
I don't think Snow regions in Tervarus will ever be truly easy because people living in those areas will need to trade for some of the things they will need. Who knows, maybe some stout Dwarves will figure out a way and then if we ever discover their presence they will show us the way of the mountains.
Oh I wasn't saying that playing Skyrim made you a hardcore gamer. I was responding to both points of your comment. Snow, then your idea. Skyrim is still king in my mind despite it's few flaws. Besides, I don't have this problem because I play Skyrim on PC with a ton of mods. Sneaking is still useful yes, but when you can't kill anything in less than five hits even while Sneaking it makes things interesting. (They actually have time to find and kill you rather than you one-shotting everything because of 3x damage.)
